After a decade working at the intersection of creativity, communication, and business, I’m bringing that experience into a different kind of work: helping people make better use of their time together.
I’m passionate about connecting people. In the new era of gatherings, there’s an opportunity to move beyond sterile networking and small-talk introductions to go deeper.
Meaningful gathers create space to hear a different perspective, discover something about a colleague, or begin a conversation worth continuing. A thoughtful gathering makes room for those moments without forcing them.

I’m Megan McKinley, founder of Real Gumption. I design and facilitate gatherings for organizations that want people actually want to be a part of.
The work is about shaping the purpose, flow, and conversations so people have a clear way to contribute (and a reason to engage).
My background in communication strategy, storytelling, client relationships, and project coordination informs how I approach the room: with attention to both the practical details and the people experiencing them.
Why Real Gumption exists

I care about the difference between being invited and being included: how people are welcomed, how they enter the conversation, and whether there is room for them to contribute.
People want to do more than occupy a seat in the room. I’m interested in creating spaces where people show up, go deeper, and get to the heart of what we all want: to belong.

This is a focused offering I am building through contained engagements, preparation, feedback, and continued learning.
I’m prioritizing smaller groups and clearly defined objectives.
Alongside client work, I host local community hangs in Reno. The first brought together about 20 people and prompted requests for another gathering. I draw from those experiences to inform my hosting practice in corporate settings.
